Economic Injury Disaster Loan declaration for Rhode Island

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has approved an Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) declaration for Rhode Island following the historic snowstorm that impacted the state from February 22–24, 2026.

This declaration makes low-interest federal disaster loans available to eligible organizations that experienced economic losses as a result of the storm.

 Eligible Applicants

    Small businesses

    Small agricultural cooperatives

    Small businesses engaged in aquaculture

Most private nonprofit organizations of all sizes

 Eligible Rhode Island Counties

    Kent County

    Providence County

    Bristol County

    Newport County

    Washington County

Contiguous counties in Connecticut and Massachusetts are also included under the federal declaration.

What the Loans Can Be Used For

Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDLs) provide working capital to help eligible organizations meet ordinary and necessary financial obligations that cannot be met because of the disaster. These loans are intended to help businesses and nonprofits maintain operations and recover from the long-term economic impacts of the storm.
